Buddhism Part 1
HELLO. Jason here yar. So yeah, I’m supposed to be doing
this project on religion and apparently my religion’s Buddhism so yeah,
here it is.
Buddhism – Buddhism is a religion that originated from
india 2500 years ago. Buddhism is the teaching of Buddha that life is
permeated with suffering caused by desire, that suffering ceases when
desire ceases, and that enlightenment obtained through right conduct,
wisdom, and meditation releases one from desire, suffering, and rebirth.
Till date, there are various ceremonies in which believers pay their
respects to the gods that they believe in.
-
Offering of paper money/hell notes
-
Burning of joss sticks
-
Trancing
-
Praying
-
Food offerings
All the above can be done at temples or at home as long as there is
an altar present. The paper money is burnt and sent through a “ portal “
to the underworld for their loved ones or rather, the intended target.
It is also used to thank the spirits for protecting them. The burning of
joss sticks is used to invite a god or a spirit into the area.
So today I will end the post here. Stay tuned for more information about Buddhist rituals!
