Continuing from last week, I will be talking about the similarities and differences between Christianity and Catholicism, since Catholicism is a type of Christianity.

Similarities of Catholicism and Christianity

There are several similarities between Catholicism and Christianity, since Catholicism is part of Christianity. Both religions first originate from Jerusalem, a plateau in the Judean Mountains situated between the Mediterranean Sea and the Dead Sea. They are founded by Jesus Christ, the son of God and agree on the status of Adam, the first man created by God.

Differences between Catholicism and Christianity

Catholicism believes in the Trinity, where three persons: Father, Son, Holy Spirit are seen as one god. All Catholics are expected to participate in the liturgical life, celebrate and give due respect to Jesus’ sacrifice during the Mass and the celebration of the seven sacrements. The seven sacrements include baptism, eucharist, confirmation, matrimony, anointing of sick, holy orders and confession. The worldwide Catholic community has a population of 1.1 billion people, making up a significant proportion of the total Christian community. Catholics are also dressed in robes and other types of clothing based on rite and season. They also obey ten commandments of Catholicism.
